Free Deliveries!

Spring has Arrived at Rainbow Sugarcraft and the cake decorating season is now in full swing. Our little web shop has really mushroomed over the past few months and we’re now sending Sugarcraft equipment and sugar flowers all over the World. Cake decorating is a challenging and enjoyable hobby and it’s wonderful to share our enthusiasm with so many customers worldwide.

Due to the increase in sales we’re pleased to announce that Matthew has now joined the Rainbow Sugarcraft Team. With a past career in catering he’s fairly new to the magical world of Sugarcraft and cake decorating equipment but like a certain apprentice magician (to whom he bears more than a passing resemblance) he’s gradually learning the difference between Magic Sparkles and Fairy Tale Castles. With Matthew’s help parcels are being parcelled faster and customers receive their goods that little bit quicker, because we know how impatient you are to get started on your summer cake decorating projects.

Many new products will be added to the cake decorating web shop through the year but if you need anything you can’t find in the Shop please just email us and we’ll be only too happy to help.

So with spring in the air, and all those lovely summer cakes to prepare and decorate, we want to extend a Special Offer to all our customers. Throughout April we will be offering FREE DELIVERY on all UK mainland orders over £50. Simply order your cake decorating supplies as usual and when your cart total exceeds £50 the shipping will be deducted.

Happy Sugarcrafting from all the Rainbow Sugarcraft Team!!!

Rainbow Fleet covering Scotland

We've had a fantastic season but are all now much relieved to be starting a quieter winter spell. Time to catch up with the web site! It has always makes me laugh when I hear someone saying that they are 'flat out' at work, but this year I've found myself saying much the same thing. Of course cake decorating isn't work for us, it's a passion. As Comrie often says "I've thoroughly enjoyed myself today" and really we do feel very priveledged to be making Wedding Cakes for the lovely couples we've met throughout the year.

At least we now have the three trusty 'Rainbow Mobiles' to deliver our cakes and of course, our brilliant team, without whom Rainbow Sugarcraft wouldn't exist.

It was lovely to be praised so highly in a couple of articles in the Scottish Wedding Directory's Winter edition of Real Life Weddings. We also take great pride in the piles of Thank You's we've received this year. Hopefully we'll get caught up adding new design ideas to the web site over the next few weeks as well as expanding our on-line shop. This has proved to be a great hit with couples on a budget making their own wedding cakes, as well as those looking for unusual favour ideas and Wedding Cookies.

So it's a little premature but we'd like to say Thank You to all our customers in 2008, both those who have already tied the knot and those still to come, right up till Hogmanay.

Bookings for next year are terrific and we're all looking forward to another fun-filled Wedding Season with hopefully a little holiday break in January?

Edible Diamonds!

We're delighted to now have a range of stunning edible diamonds available for our own Wedding Cake designs as well as to share with other cake decorators.

Diamantes have long been a popular choice for Wedding dresses, tiaras and cake decorating, though these were always added to Wedding Cakes as non-edible decorations.

These georgeous sparkly sugar diamond jewels are entirely edible and add a real touch of sophistication to Wedding Cakes, Mini Cakes or cookie designs. Edible diamonds are suitable for vegetarians and with a long shelf life they are undoubtedly precious gems.

On-Line Wedding Shop

Our on-line shop has proved so hugely successful since January that there simply hasn't been time to update our Wedding News! I must say we've all had great fun sourcing Wedding Gift ideas, novelty cake toppers and adding cake decorating items to help you make your own Wedding Day just that little bit more special.

New for summer 2008 are a range of fabulous glittering gems and jewels to add a touch of 'Bling' to your cake. The Ball and Chain and Runaway Bride cake toppers have brough a smile to many a guest's face and our unique range of engraved cake swords and knives has now been extended. We now also supply D.I.Y. Wedding favour boxes and pouches, as well as a wide range of hand-made sugarcraft flowers.

The 'olde family recipe' Scottish Butter Tablet favours are still proving hugely popular, we've even had orders from Europe and America.

Of course there are many more items available than we have had time to add to the on-line sugarcraft shop, especially now as the Wedding Cake season is in full swing and we find the team dashing all over the country with cakes, chocolate creations and towering croquembouches.

So if you're looking for something a little different for your guests do take a look at our on-line shop and if you have any queries please email or phone. We'll be only too happy to help you.

Seasonal Greetings from the Team

Our intention to update the blog on a monthly basis were completely scrapped this year when we found ourselves in the midst of our busiest ever Wedding Cake season, which continued well into November. Much midnight oil was burnt to make sure everything went out as we would wish but we've all remained relatively sane and some of us are now enjoyed a well deserved holiday (not that I'm jealous.) Things are a little quieter now and it's time to update the web site with new designs, ideas and sugarcraft news.
Our Gingerbread Des. Res. was commisioned by an Estate Agent for their Christmas window. With a sugarcraft Under Offer Sign in the garden, it has caused much amusement amongst Christmas shoppers in the Scottish Borders and some clients have even contacted us to ask if we would make them a Gingerbread Wedding Cake!
Perhaps the most exciting event for the team this summer was the arrival of our new 'girl' Comrie Cameron. Comrie is a Geordie Lass who has lived in the Borders for most of her adult life and has always had a love of crafts and art. She joined us a full time employee in July and has settled in well with the team.
There is often laughter in the Rainbow Sugarcraft studio, not always hysterical, and Comrie's usually leading the mirth. She's made some interesting additions to our novelty cakes, usually the cause of the hilarity. She also has a real talent for making sugarcraft flowers, one of our specialities and we're all delighted to have her with us.
We're already planning ahead for 2008 and will be attending various Wedding Shows at venues who recommend us as their preferred cake decorators. We're going to give the bigger shows a miss next year as bookings for 2008 and 2009 are extremely healthy and we'd prefer to concentrate on supplying our key venues. This will leave us sufficient space in our diary for those rather special cake requests, which are always a fresh challenge and a huge talking point at the wedding.
So we'd just like to say a very big Thank You to all our customers in 2007. We've really enjoyed working with you to help make your Wedding Day perfect and wish you every happiness in the coming years.

Paul and Comrie at our Christmas lunch - both perfectly sober (honestly.)

Darren Day & Stephanie Dooley Marry at Comlongon Castle

The Team at Rainbow Sugarcraft were sworn to absolute secrecy when asked by the Chief Bridesmaid to make the Celebrity Wedding Cake for West End Star and T.V. presenter Darren Day and the girl of his dreams, actress Stephanie Dooley. The wedding took place in the romantic setting of Comlongon Castle in Dumfries on the most glorious sunny day, where security met one of our 'Rainbow Mobiles' and ushered David down the drive to deliver the couple's Wedding Cake.

They had chosen a chic, ivory covered, three tier design with a tilting love heart as the top tier. The cake was decorated with hand-made sugarcraft calla lilies and black feathers, which complimented the wedding flowers to perfection. The cake was set up in the Castle's Drawing Room, sunlight pooling through the French Windows, and everyone was delighted with the cake's clean, simple lines and stunning flowers.

The Wedding was like a fairytale come true; Stephanie wearing a breath-taking gown decorated with Swarovski Crystals and beads and Darren dressed in a kilt, as a tribute to his late father. The couple's beautiful seven month old baby Madison and Stephanie's eight year old son Jordon were in attendance, as the happy couple released white doves on the steps of the castle.

Darren and Stephanie could not have had a more perfect day or idyllic setting to celebrate their wedding and all the staff of Rainbow Sugarcraft wish them every possible happiness for the future.

With many thanks to Darren and Stephanie, together with thier photographer Tony Ward, for permission to reproduce these photographs which are featured in Hello Magazine.

New Studio - Planning Passed!

We're excited to announce that our new studio is one step closer to being a reality as plans go out to tender!

Okay, we admit it doesn't look like much at the moment but it really is a magical setting.

Set amidst the ancient woodland above the historic village of Eddlestone, the old mill once served the Black Barony Estate. We're convinced it's not called Fairy Dene without reason and there's great excitement that soon work will begin to create a purpose built cake studio with a huge kitchen, cool rooms, drying rooms and a designer, light filled work studio.

The original stone building is protected and will remain to form part of a new home for two of the Rainbow Sugarcraft Team. The plan is to make the build as environmentally friendly as possible, especially as we've no wish to aggravate the current residents on site (you really don't want to get on the wrong side of a Kelpie or a Dryad.) So we'll keep you posted as the new build develops and hope that soon we'll be able to greet you with champagne and cake samples in our new cake emporium.
